Bay Colony Group offers our clients full-service site civil engineering capabilities for everything from single-family home septic system designs to commercial and residential subdivision designs to recreation complexes to industrial warehouses. The engineering staff can provide the full gamut of civil design to include: conceptual design, master planning, layout and grading design, storm water and utility design. We can also prepare the environmental and economic analyses necessary in today's dense regulatory environment. Our experience tells us that community involvement is key to the success of any large project and we build a community outreach plan into all of our projects to get stakeholders in early, so that we can make adjustments in the early phases, and not when a redesign becomes cost prohibitive.

Permitting

In today's regulatory environment it is more likely that a regulatory agency will derail a plan as opposed to an insurmountable engineering issue. BCG starts out with a thorough understanding of the regulatory regime that must be navigated to bring the project to fruition. Our staff has vast experience in dealing with Conservation Commissions, Planning Boards, Zoning Boards of Appeal, Departments of Environmental Protection, and Executive Offices of Environmental Affairs. We know the process, know the players, and work hard to bring it all together under the time constraints that each project labors under.

Site Plan Design

Bay Colony Group specializes in the design of commercial projects from 5,000 sf prefabricated flex buildings to $100 million multi-use projects on 150 acre sites that house historical buildings. We meticulously plan the course of action and timeline so that all facets of the design, and all the members of the team, understand their role and their tasks. We coordinate closely with the permitting authorities to ensure that we are meeting the regulatory requirements and identifying community issues up-front so that they can be addressed in the design. Value engineering is uppermost in our minds as we move from conceptual design to design development to site plan to construction drawings. We are always looking for new methods or designs to accomplish the engineering goals while minimizing costs.

Subdivision Design

Bay Colony Group is prequalified by MassHighway for basic roadway design and we have worked on hundreds of residential and commercial subdivisions for the public and private sectors. Roadway design is rarely a stand-alone task and we understand the integration into the broader project goals as well as the other engineering disciplines such as utility design, storm water design and transportation design.
